Exclamation Too many prune plums

My prune plum tree is literally bent over with the weight of all the plums on it this year. One branch already broke, and even though we trimmed the branches back in front of our door, the mail man remarked that we only have to walk out of our door with an open mouth to have our fill of plums. I don't know what to do with all of them. There is a limit to how much plume cake I can bake and store. Even if I run my dehydrator 24/7, I am not going to salvage the harvest. It looks like I am going to have to make plum jam, which no one in our house really likes to eat much of.

How about chutney? Has anyone ever made it with prune plums?

Do you have freezer space? Do you make smoothies? Pit 'em, freeze 'em, turn them into smoothies! Otherwise, share your bounty with your neighbors!

Chuck 'em in bags in the freezer, decide later what to do with them when you're snowed in or in quarantine......

I could pass your details to our squirrels. They're stripping our plum and greengage bare.

I didn't realise that one tiny beast could make himself comfortable and eat six plums in one sitting. I hope he didn't encounter any unfortunate effects...

Thanks people! I don't have the freezer space that I used to since changing to an up-right freezer. I'm fat, and I have consantly have problems with loose stools, so I really shouldn't be eating the things that much, or any jam or chutney. My family loves plum cake, but will otherwise not eat the plums in any other form. I've tried to give them away before, but lots of people around here have their own plum problem. I'll do some drying, baking, and canning I guess. I'll stuff what I can in the freezer, and the rest are for the birds and wasps.
