The Brits have the art of "politing you to death" mastered. An impoverished, Southern belle of certain vintage can only aspire to such subtle put downs.

For examples of such behaviour - any of Jane Austen's novels, especially the films, are perfect.

American man claims he’s the rightful king of England and intends to fly over from Colorado to seize power
Quote:
A man from the US has claimed he is the rightful King of England in a newspaper
Allan V. Evans from Wheat Ridge, Colorado took out a giant advert in The Times
He says he is a descendant of Cunedda Wledig, founder of the Kingdom of Wales
Despite his demands he will allow Queen Elizabeth to stay in power until she dies

Grand: Mr Evans' giant advertisement in The Times on Tuesday that
underline his demands

Don't wrestle with a pig. The pig enjoys it and you get muddy.

That should prove entertaining. The morning Piccadilly line tube trip from Heathrow will either fuel the army's inner fire, or send them whimpering back to the terminal.

In other news, the inimitable Very British Problems has a great twitter feed to share our deepest psyche. http://www.verybritishproblems.com/

And as an antidote to People of Walmart, you can try Overheard in Waitrose. http://thedailyquicky.com/the-ten-be...e-during-2014/ Please note that we are not the couple referred to at #10, and our squirrels do not feed on cashews and goats' milk (the occasional almond and grape, maybe).

He should be careful of what he wants. After the muzzies take over they may just give it to him.

If they're in a spendy mood, they can take the Heathrow Express! And, I think Canadians and Seattleites would give the Brits a run for their money in terms of studied passive-aggressiveness.

Where do you think we Canadians got that trait from? It sure as hell wasn't from the French.

Meh , only approximately 2% but it would be
much much more if the British shaved their armpits.

'Welcome to the world of weak coffee!' Canadian café chain Tim Hortons divides customers as it arrives in the UK with some slamming its 'notoriously bad' drinks (but others fear its doughnuts will make them fat)

Tim Hortons will first open in Glasgow before rapidly expanding across the UK
Canadian chain is famous for its TimBits dough 'holes' and its cheap coffee
Some Twitter users say the coffee is 'notoriously weak' in its home country

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/fo...unches-UK.html

Tim Hortons was founded in Ontario in 1964 by professional
ice hockey player Tim Horton and now has 5,000 restaurants
around the world
