Default Recording surveillance

I'm getting a single surveillance camera for my porch. I need to be able to record it. I'm not tech savvy at all so I'm not sure what I need to do to make this happen.

Mostly I will want to be recording between roughly 10:00 pm-noon the next day and will most likely not keep any archives. What I'd like to be able to do is record from 10:00 pm -4:00 or so, review it, dump the recording and record again from 6:00 am-noon, review it and dump it again.

Can someone help? Thank you!

I read that recording directly on your computer will use up a lot of memory. If I'm looking at the right thing, it says
I have 852 gb free of 920 gb. Computer is getting pretty old, maybe 7 years?

My ex ordered a camera off Amazon and it came to his place. He tried four different free recording softwares and none of them would even recognize the camera, much less do anything else. Then he tried Contracam with his webcam and it worked perfectly. So he came over here, took the webcam that is never used off the top off the computer, turned it around and pointed it out the window, downloaded Contracam on my computer and now I have a nifty little surveillance system.

Worthless camera is going right back to Amazon.

I really like Contracam. I have it recording on motion sensor only. It's an easy program.

I bought a Dericam Wi-Fi PTZ IP Camera Model S1-16GB from this site last month.

Because of the WI-Fi it was easy to install, only needed near by mains. Set up though is not for those lacking a bit of tech savvy, I am still battling to get all the many options working.

I'm happy with what it can do at the moment, colour video and snapshots are excellent.

I should be able to access the camera with my mobile phone when I'm away but sadly my phone won't load the app.

I bought the camera to stop fly-tipping in the lane outside my house. So far I have lots of pictures of the local cats.

So did I. My guess was a person peeing in the alley or along the curb. My guess was not close at all.

Yeah, okay. Big problem here in the UK, rubbish dumping on the fly. Local council rubbish collection is now fortnightly and they won't take any heavy stuff so if you have any broken furniture, bedding etc. you have to take it to a controlled rubbish collection site where they might charge you depending on the type and quantity of your rubbish. Lots of people can't be bothered to do that so dump it in any quiet spot they can find if they think they are unobserved.... fly tipping!!!

I live on a little cul-de-sac lane with a sharp bend quarter way down. Once round the bend you are invisible due high wall on one side.

I now have 24 hour CCTV coverage of that bend so hopefully will have a record of any dumping.

We need a camera on the dumpster at work. We have cameras everywhere but, and people dump their stuff in there all the time. Even construction workers staying at the hotel, dumping their work garbage.
