‘Human foot’ left in package at Conservative Party’s Ottawa headquarters

"A suspicious package dropped off at the Conservative Party of Canada’s Ottawa headquarters “possibly” contained a human foot, police said Tuesday.

...The package is believed to have been delivered by Canada Post and police said the package was at least partially opened by a receptionist on the 12th floor before it was called in as suspicious."

Waiting for updates - apparently the package was x-rayed when HazMat arrived; I'd assume that's protocol.

I found myself wondering if/when/where a body missing a foot might be found. Got the answer:

That was exactly my thought when I first read the article. Glad that I'm not the only one!

The feet that keep washing up on the west coast; those that remain unidentified anyway. My personal theory has always been that they belong to 'undocumented' ship crewmen, especially merchant ships or pirates. Buddy dies at sea or is killed, his body is tossed overboard & eventually, the very buoyant shoe with human remains shows up.

This incident is, to the best of my knowledge - completely new.

Okay - both packages have the same origin - not sure if they mean the same originating city or postal recieving station... doubt there's a return address.

I haven't seen any comments about any notes or other form of message sent with these packages.

The foot is described as decomposing - matches what's desribed in the Montreal torso case. They should be able to match the body parts/torso fairly quickly. This is certainly going to be high priority.

Second body part is a hand - not addressed to the Conservative Party. Police aren't saying where that package was destined.

"Montreal police say they are looking for 29-year-old Luka Rocco Magnotta, believed to originally be from Toronto, in connection with a suspected homicide.

A man with that same name has a huge presence on the Internet, as a low-level adult film actor and as a contentious figure alleged to have posted videos of cats being tortured and killed.

There is considerable online chatter that the recent killing -- along with multiple gruesome acts committed on the male victim's body -- was videotaped and posted on the Internet.

The huge web presence includes an article, written under Magnotta's name in 2009, titled, "How to Completely Disappear and Never Be Found," which shares a six-step process for escaping and shedding one's identity.

Another online article offers tips on how to get into the porn business.

One mainstream news article cites Magnotta complaining that his life had been ruined by unfounded rumours he was dating sex-killer Karla Homolka; the article suggests, however, that Magnotta may have helped spread those rumours himself.

Magnotta was renting an apartment in a Montreal building that is now at the epicentre of the body-parts investigation.

It was behind that blue-collar mid-rise apartment that a man's torso was found in a locked suitcase Tuesday. On the same day, a foot was found in a package opened at Conservative headquarters and a hand was found at an Ottawa postal warehouse."
