Hey, thanx! I still remember the absolute thrill of getting & opening a brand new box of Crayolas. It wasn't a box of crayons, it was a box of possibilities.

I swear someone could give me a box today & my heart rate would jump up.

I've had a head cold these last several days so today has been the pits. I saw that Crayola article which brought the song back to mind. Just the thing needed for a Monday.

I confess to absolutely zero artistic talent of my own, but at 50 years old I own a coloring book and crayons for whenever I get the urge to color. I just never outgrew enjoying coloring and I find it relaxing.

Damn it, you're right. No one has to know that colouring book & brand new box of Crayolas are for ME!

Niw, I can only hope to find a complex enough colouring book...

While going through stuff here I found a couple of my old coloring books and I gave them to DIL. She loves to color Lisa and Sue, she says it relaxes her when she's had a rough day with Livie.

We went to the crayola factory for their "factory tour" and kids exhibit as its close by in Easton. Felt a bit tourist-trap to me.

I mentioned once in passing that I'd never had one of the large boxes of crayons as a child. So my youngest daughter got me one.

You can find some amazing coloring books online. I've found some of the best in a metaphysical bookstore in North Idaho when I was living there. There is a series of mandala coloring books that's amazing. Some rainforest books. Stuff like that.

Dover has a number of Mandala coloring books.

Also they're having a 60% off sale of selected clip art and craft books today and tomorrow.

I can still distinctly recall having crayon envy on the first day of school each year. Most of us had the 12 or 24 pack, but there were always a few that had the 64 pack with built-in sharpener.

Just another of life's little lessons that things aren't always fair.

The 64-pack of crayons and a coloring book were the gifts that I usually gave to other kids at birthday parties.

The colour of money: British author sells more than a million copies around the world of her colouring-in books for grown-ups
Quote:
Johanna Basford has created a colouring-in book for adults which has sold more than a million copies
She was delighted when it was translated into 14 different languages - and proved a particular hit in Paris
Her hand drawn illustrations have also been used by big brands including Absolut Vodka, Sony, Nike and Smart Car
She says her book was inspired by the time she spent visiting her grandparents on the Isle of Arran in Ayrshire
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ok-adults.html

The book has been a particular hit in Paris where it outsold France's
best-selling cookery books - an unheard of feat

Slightly off topic but dd has always had a wall in her room with dark paint that served as a chalk board. She is currently almost 19. A few years ago, she asked if she could paint all the walls a darker blue and write in chalk on all the surfaces. I said sure and her room is quite artistic! Friends still come over when she's home on break and leave funny quotes and drawings.
