After leaving the legal profession, Fink began to search for something to call her own. In this, she knew she had to be creative. One night, she had a dream that told her she needed to create big blankets, and that is exactly what she did. Though Fink learned the art of knitting at a young age, she continued to expand her knowledge of the craft through self-education and experimentation — her textile of choice is high-grade unspun wool from her native Australia or New Zealand. In recent years, she began working on her Little Dandelion project — a blog featuring her work, which revolves*around her desire to quietly rebel against mass production.

She must have used needles the thickness of broomsticks to make that . . . thing.

Look at the video on the first link.

They were fence post size.

Same here, video not available. But there was a still shot in the second link of her knitting with fenceposts.

Yet another "artistic" example of The Emperor's New Clothes.

Not a project you can tuck into a bag and bring with you to a waiting room

Why would anyone want to knit something like that? It's just ugly IMO.

Why? $$$$$$, that's why. Note they're not clothes or anything useful, but "art installations."

$$$$$! They cost too much to make. I guess as an "art installation," beauty is in the eye of the beholder. More power to them if someone actually wants to pay for that .

Don't wrestle with a pig. The pig enjoys it and you get muddy.

DD#3 wanted to arm knit a throw. She thought it was really cool and came out looking so soft and cushiony. I sent her 10 lbs of roving I had on hand. The roving was more for practice than serious spinning... the wool was not the highest or softest grade. But it would do for her needs. I warned her that it was raw wool and would soak up everything that touched it - get grey from dirt and stains are permanent. Do not get it wet. It will not wash well at all, and will felt up just from regular use. She didn't care about any of that. She spent two days arm knitting a little blanket. YAY! It's awesome. Her friend wants to try and make one. Can I tell her where to buy roving? When she saw it was $14 per pound ($140 total) she decided it wasn't worth it. lol

You'd be surprised, Mouse. Someone at our first hotel in Ireland obviously paid for the "artwork" hanging in their lobby: two canvases hung one above the other, each about 4 feet tall by 6 feet long. The top one was painted a flat red, the bottom one a flat black. Near the bottom of the red canvas the "artist" had glued a ragged strip of burlap about a foot wide and 5 feet long, and painted it black.

There are styles of art I don't care for, but I don't qualify this as art at all. I could have made that thing in 1/2 hour.
