That was really cool. What is that stringed instrument called? I've always wondered.

The instrument is called "kanun". It has 48 notes, compared to 12 notes (fixed frequencies) of basic western instruments, therefore the musical piece I am sharing now has Japanese "Sakura" played first, then a Turkish classic "Katibim". A kanun master theoratically can everything Its history dates back to Byzantium.
