Default Garage Sale Treasures

We don't get to go to garage sales often so we pick and choose then make mad dashes to them in the early morning before my dad gets up. Today we went to one a friend was having to get rid of her husbands "junk". I have been friends with this couple for years and in fact they were the ones that got me off the ground in my first business. They were my first real customers.

The husband of this couple was a collector of what most people would call junk but in reality were treasures. He loved tools and could hardly resist a good opportunity. He loved auctions and picked up some very nice things once again, things most 'normal' people would consider junk (including his wife). He was also a wonderful cook whose forte' was smoked meats and big meals for crowds. They owned a chain of grocery stores so he had lots of resources available.

So we were able to pick up some nice finds that are very useful for the things we do: 3 LARGE cookpots all with basket inserts. The largest is 15 gal, the middle sized one is 10 gal and ideal for crab boils and scalding. The smallest is 4 gal and has a fry basket with an edge lip for draining after frying. All three are restaurant quality and the best part is I was able to barter for them. We also got garden tools, some hardware, a bug suit that will work for beekeeping, some great knives, and a Bose Stereo system. We're pretty tickled with ourselves.
