Default Fake Security Cameras?

Home robberies are becoming more and more common in our town. There is no room at the inn so non-violent criminals are arrested and immediately released. It's not uncommon for the typical meth head to have several court dates already in the works when he/she/it is picked up for his latest crime. I'm contemplating installing a few real security cameras along with several fakes.

Any thoughts? How do you guys secure your homes?

I keep my place really dark, especially at night.

And I have several firearms handy.

Don't wrestle with a pig. The pig enjoys it and you get muddy.

We have security cameras that face outside but can also be remotely turned to look inside the house. You can also speak through them. They sound a tone when triggered and Jason has it set to announce, in a voice loud enough to be heard outside, when someone approaches, "Person sighted. Recording Video!" The cameras do record all movement on video.

I have a little dog who is very very good at barking BEFORE the cameras alert me - and while the cameras will not alert at all for sandhill cranes or cats roaming through the yard, the dog is pretty sure they're out to rob us.

Buy a dog. They watch your house. They bark. They kill rats. They give you an excuse for a walk. It's like having a camera except it doesn't record. But it is interactive.

Electronic barking dog alarms are pretty cheap .

Even the appearance of having an alarm system installed may
cause thieves to choose the next house . So an empty alarm/siren
box mounted on the front of your house is a cheap fix .

IMO to do it properly you really need multiple types of devices though ,
along with beefing up your doors and windows.

$200 for a wi-fi enabled video doorbell with a 180-degree camera and motion detection; answer the doorbell with your smartphone. $30/year gets you cloud storage of recordings.

I had a friend design a small black box with a blinking red LED.

FAKE Car alarm.., People believed that they worked, so he made $15 a pop for them.

I suppose the same would hold true for a lot of decoy home security.

We have an alarm company sign and a control panel. Haven't had a break in yet..,
