Redtails are cool birds. We have a pair of red-shouldered hawks that nest somewhere in the neighborhood. We hear them calling each other quite often, and occasionally see them. They'll even take gophers and moles that are underground! I guess they see the tunnel humping up as critter digs.

Bluebirds are still available, Lilly, so that one is yours.

WilL check back in later - I'm at the oncology clinic right now. Just a maintenence med, so other than the chunk taken out of my day it doesn't give me any problemm.

No, only 348,478 other projects! And they can wait. I have the Critters in the Garden to finish first, but I only need to make a few more blocks for that, and then just sewing them together.

OK, folks, I'm going to have to put a limit on how many blocks I can do. Or I WILL be making a blankie to cover the flyover states! 30 9-inch blocks will give me a nice throw-sized quilt that's 57 inches by 67. Assuming I haven't missed anyone, the count now stands at 27 responses. If you want in on this, holler while you still have a chance at one of those last 3 spaces.

Thanks everyone.

I'm okay, just sore and a little stoned legally medicated. I've agreed to stay confined to my chair for a day or two. (DH asked if I prefer ropes, chains or duct tape ) I don't have much to do except to read and fiddle around with puter stuff. So the organized bird list is forthcoming...

I must admit that I'm having giggle fits as I sit here and think about what birds I would assign to each of y'all - and to the folks who aren't even playing.

And then there's CSue's idea of doing a fish quilt. That would be pretty funny too.

We've got several redtails that fly around our field and occasionally perch in our trees or land in the field for a bit of a walk about. The crows hate them and are always chasing them and harassing them whenever they're around. I always enjoy watching them when they're around.

Thank you. Too many "in memoriam".

If at all possible, D Gale agreed that perhaps a coot would be a better in memoriam for lars. If not possible, what we have will do.

You're right. I'm really sorry I missed that.

MA, can you do a coot?

If so, I'll change the choice for Lars to this:

Very cool MA. Even more so when I realize how long I've been seeing many of these names.

Yes, I can do a coot, especially with the picture that you gave me. Good, clear pictures! Even if I have a pattern, they help with marking the colors. I'm digging through my stash and collecting fabrics for the first two, Canada Sue's cardinal, and Blue Gecko's hummingbird. The hummingbirds are going to be fun. They'll be in a fabric called "Fairy Frost." It has just that right iridescense for hummingbirds.

---------- Post added at 06:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:08 PM ----------

If y'all are interested, I can show you how I design a pattern from a picture.
