Default Crafter's Math

In spite of tutoring GS#2 in various forms of arcane math that makes my head ache, DH does not understand Quilter's Math. (I assume other crafts have similar crafter's math.) He refuses to see that since I just cleaned and oiled my sewing machine, I saved us a $50 service charge to have a shop guy do it. Therefore I have $50 to spend on OTHER quilt-related stuff, right? He is being so UNREASONABLE!

I hear you - I was at the grocery store this morning & saved $1 by spotting a little roast chicken at a slightly cheaper per pound price. Obviously that means I can buy a snack! Watch DH NOT see it that way. Men can be so weird.

Don't wrestle with a pig. The pig enjoys it and you get muddy.

This is Jason Math! He saves money by finding a bargain for a necessary expense, which savings can then be applied to one of his toys.

I, on the other hand, have a mountain of fiber which will be turned into useful items of clothing at tremendous savings. You can't afford to buy the things I will make. Someday. Really.

Around here we call it 'free critter costs'.

The dog itself was 'free'.

But the fence, microchipping placement and annual fee, vet costs, license, food, treats, toys and everything else for that adorable 'free dog', is not 'free'.

Truth be told, 'free dogs' ain't 'cheap'.

My only hope at redeeming myself is when we get a $5 or $10 coupon without a minimum on it (as in $10 off any purchase of $25 or more) and I scour the discount ranks and have been able to score hubby's preferred type of boxers or tee shirts or the like and only have a $1 or less, out of pocket cost

I just meandered up to the corner store. As I approached, I could see two young lads, probably about 7 & 10 sitting on the front step, carefully counting their change. The young one asked the older one, after determining how much he had; how many of a certain kind of candy he could buy. Older one replies with a bit of frustration: "THAT'S why you have to pay attention in math! So you can know this stuff! I won't always be with you!"

Maybe math teachers are missing out on a great motivational tool.

No, he'll use Genealogist's Math, probably.

I'm bi-mathical. I use Seamstress Math and Genealogist's Math. Just not at the same time.
