Don't wrestle with a pig. The pig enjoys it and you get muddy.

I thought this was going to be about actual white stuff falling from the sky!

We were at Ocean City on Friday, doing prep work for a K of C whoop-ti-do at the end of February. Got up Saturday morning to 4 inches of snow and more falling heavily.

There were a couple of dozen people in the hotel lobby--"OMG!! OMG!!! IT'S SNOWING!!!! HOW ARE WE GOING TO GET HOME?!?!?" We just got in the car, went to breakfast, and drove home!

Snow days used to be when the snow was so deep the students couldn't trudge through the drifts in time for first bell. Then parents started driving their kids to school and complained about accidents due to icy conditions. That's when the schools started closing whenever there was a chance of precipitation if temps were below freezing. Of course if the kids can't go to school then someone has to stay home from work and it just makes sense that if the roads are too hazardous to transport children then they are too hazardous, period. So, It's SNOWING! OMG! We're TRAPPED!

Mama - I was in ocmd also this weekend. It snowed all day with a ferocious wind to boot. They were not prepared at all. When we left today the coastal highway was still 2" of ice with snow on top well on up into Delaware. Witnessing the graders and back hoes they were using to try to deal with it reminded me of how the Delmarva peninsula really doesn't handle snow very well (understatement #1 for 2017).

We didn't see any graders, but did see dump trucks with plow blades on the front. The worst of it must have come in behind us, since there was only about 4 inches of snow and no ice coming up US-50. Driving was a bit slick, but not bad. (Well, not for DH. Two winters in Alaska were good for something!) We did have to stop 2 or 3 times to clear ice off the wiper blades, where that wet snow melted on the windshield and refroze.

How long did it take you to get home? 2 1/2 hours to get down there on Friday, 4+ hours coming home Saturday morning. We didn't get much more than a dusting here, maybe 1/2 inch when we pulled into the driveway. Just enough to tell that 2 other cars had pulled into our driveway and backed out again. Newspaper and mail, we think, since there were packages at the front door and papers in the driveway.

We got hammered by a winter storm over the weekend that dumped well over a foot of snow on us between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Thankfully the power stayed on!! It's currently -4F out with a windchill of -22F. Brrrrr!!! Even Risky doesn't want to go out in this!

It takes us about 3.5 hr to get there. The return trip was more like 4 hr, so not all that bad considering. All of our drivers were experienced and confident with the snow.

Hard to tell amounts, because the wind was so bad, but I'd say they ended up getting 8-12 inches altogether, which is a REALLY big storm for them. It changed our plans a little on Saturday (no off site trips during free time) but other than that it was kind of fun.

The attached pic was sunrise Saturday vs sunrise Sunday.
