Pierce County animal control and law enforcement officers are responding to reports of a Bengal tiger on the loose just outside of Puyallup on River Road.
A spokesman for the sheriff's office said several people reported seeing the tiger. There are no licensed exotic animal farms or zoos in the area, the spokesman said.
One resident told KING 5 News that he saw a 200 lb cat with blond hair and black stripes walking through grass.
The City of Puyallup posted this short update to its Twitter account: "Tiger hunt taking place in unincorporated Pierce County outside the City of Puyallup.""
This may turn out to be nothing at all, but if there was a Bengal tiger wandering around my neighborhood, I'd hope that someone would let me know.
