A public 'thank you' for Kassy
Kassy tirelessly chases down the most up to date info from a great many countries on a daily basis. I don't know where she finds the time but I appreciate being able to check in & find out the latest info from each nation. I have a tough enough time some days, just chasing down what's going on in Canada! It's a whole lot easier thinking things through & monitering the world wide situation when I can get all the basic info right here in one spot.
I don't have time & won't make the time to chase around different forums daily to track flu. It takes up too much of my time, tends to make me obssessive & I figure within 4-8 weeks, I'll be dealing with more flu news than I care to anyway. This is a nice balance.
For all the great work you do Kassy, a heartfelt:
THANK YOU!

I agree with CS! I dont know how she finds the time? I make it a habit on a fequent bases to thank Kassy for keeping things current in FC. Especially when interest died down to "0". She keeps the updates flowing. As I read her updates, subject and thread by thread, I notice how a week will go by with no other posts but hers.
Hat tip and THANKS!

I realized today I'd never thanked her - publicly as she deserves. I felt guilty. If I could send her a big basket of baking, I would!

I have been thinking lately of everything that Kassy has done for this board especially in the flu clinic. I was going to send her a pm but this is much better. This thread is an excellent idea Sue.
Kassy, Thank you so much for all you do, and for always keeping us up to date. It's a lot of work and I for one, appreciate you very much.

I think she can be a little more open minded about the growing threat from Flubola.

LOVELIEST of trees, the cherry now / Is hung with bloom along the bough,
And stands about the woodland ride / Wearing white for Eastertide.
Now, of my threescore years and ten, / Twenty will not come again,
And take from seventy springs a score, / It only leaves me fifty more.
And since to look at things in bloom / Fifty springs are little room,
About the woodlands I will go / To see the cherry hung with snow.

Did you think about this before you typed it?
It is a wonder Kassy didn't burn-out after the first week of the pandemic panic. If things slow down enough to take a "5 minute" break, letting the rest of the team take the reins for a bit, to regain the strength to power on for the long haul, she surely deserves it.

Well stuff happens in the real world too and it consumes an awful lot of time.
As for me, i'm just posting about some area of interest of mine.
There has been some decline in media attention but there was still plenty news in early 2009 ~ interesting H5N1 pattern in China in January & Egypt just keeps going.
I was planning on a quiet spring & summer when Swine Flu popped up.
It's different. H2H when we first heard of it and it traveled to all places. Now we have a worldwide pandemic & while i post on it i'm just merely passing through some info and i never got close to getting all of it. There's a huge lack of info on South American threads while they saw a lot of action.
I also hardly ever post updates on the US situation because most of the members are from the US so it should be covered.
There's a lot going on & there's no way i can keep up alone & it shouldn't be necessary. Ask not etc.
Thanks for your contributions to Flu Spec.

Don't tell her, but I just wanted her to know I noticed her absence.
But, when you think about it (Reeal Hard), it's kind of like that doctor during Katrina, who started euthanizing people so he could "take-off".

Excuse me?
Try saying it straight so people don't think you're being rude. It's NOT her responsability to fill everyone's flu info needs; not now or ever. She's worked bloody hard covering the earliest stages of this & yes, this will be a long haul event.
We all need to be sharing the load. We all have real lives off this forum.
