The whole west coast seems to be pretty lit up with EQ activity. Check The Aleutians, in the Alaska region.

But by far, Baja California seems to be the busiest..,

Nerve-wracking..,

Parkfield is the town with the most eq's in Cali, isn't it? If I remember right (I might not), it was picked for extra equipment to watch and try to learn to predict eq's a few years ago.
Not quite correct. They picked Parkfield because the fault is relatively predictable there and looking back through the records it was clear that Parkfield had a regular cycle.

I'm no seismologist either, but from what I've read and observed on the maps over the last decade, some of the quakes do off load some stress to other faults in the area. Even out of the area. Think about how a very large quake in one part of the world transfers stress to another plate.

I think I would be a bit nervous if I lived in the Imperial Valley/Salton Sea area right now. Everything may turn out fine, but the aftershocks do seem to be unusually strong and to be going on for an unusually long amount of time for a 7.2. There are especially a lot of aftershocks around Seeley.

I would think as long as you are not right on the coast, you should be just fine.

How big of quakes are those capable of producing. I know you do have some low 7s up there on land from time to time. Are there any high 7s?

The Seattle Fault is capable of a 7.6-7.7 magnitude quake.

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/regional/...vefaults/sfz/=

Also, the fault off the coast is not exactly something that is no threat to Seattle.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/28/op...ttle%22&st=cse

It is also quite possible that a major quake off the coast could trigger faults within Puget Sound.

Well I am sure you are better prepped than most. We are still waiting for the Hawyard fault to go. We live about 12 miles from the Hayward Fault and 3 miles from the San Andreas. Fun, fun, fun.

I live in a manufactured home that is up on jacks. A quake is not going to be kind to it. Of course, with a really serious quake, I may well be at work. If the building I work in survives, getting home to what is left of my place will be interesting.

Another bad thing about offshore earthquakes, even relatively small ones, is that they can trigger large underwater landslides that can easily create large tsunamis.

Damn I live in Calexico CA in the epicenter of this seismic activity. Its shaking everyday, my kids are starting to enjoy them. But Im starting to worry. Yet, historically can anyone tell me when a larger aftershock occurred after such a large first shake? Like we had on Easter Sunday of all days.

Kids are starting to enjoy them!

My mom liked 'em unless there were messes to clean up. Free amusement ride.

There is even evidence to suggest that there is no active, continuous main trace of the San Andreas fault going all the way through the pass, not even at depth -- implying that the San Andreas fault may currently be in the process of creating a new fault path through this area! This could also mean that a single, continuous rupture from Cajon Pass to the Salton Sea (a stretch of the San Andreas that has not ruptured in historical times) is unlikely to occur.
http://www.data.scec.org/fault_index/sanandre.html

Interesting possibility. It would mean we don't know squat about what could happen.

It has become eerily quiet in the SoCal/Mexico border area. Last quake was around 5 hours ago, and a 2.6. Rest of CA is pretty quiet too. Doesn't feel right.
