The independent videographer who shot the video took the tape to Q-13, a local TV station. Their news people refused to show it, fearing they would lose access to Seattle police sources.

Do you really think "asking for papers" necessarily goes any differently? And it won't matter when, as in this case, the person did not commit any crime. They just dust you off, "sorry about that boot in your face", and send you on your way.

I don't think any sane person disagrees.

However, the hypocrisy of the Left/Liberal/Democrats gets tiring.

The Left/Liberal/Democrats always points this out when it is a Red State, some like to pass the favor back.

Way back in the day the cops actually were abusing liberals more than any others. You could tell the difference by the way they dressed and wore their hair. Conservatives weren't upset too much by this because the liberals were commie pinko atheist revolutionaries and had it coming.

Liberals demanded Citizen Review Boards. Cops screamed they couldn't couldn't fight godless commie pinkos if they were limited by liberal review boards.

Conservatives believed that and pretty much kept it from happening. They displayed bumper stickers that read "Support Your Local Police".

Cops liked that and smilingly gave slack to those with the bumper sticker.

You don't see that bumper sticker anymore. Anyone is fair game for brutality.

Yet here we are still playing conservative and liberal and not doing anything about the problem.

And regular crime is rampant.

Both sides and everyone in between agrees this is wrong. We will likely disagree on what to do about it but we'll never find out because we can't get past playing smart ass word games.

There have been all too many examples in my area and within recent history two men have died in jail because of unnecessary brutality.

One was an older man of good reputation who was acting strangely and armed with a pencil. He may have been having a stroke or a diabetic episode, we will never know. Failing to obey the order to get down on the ground he was savagely taken into custody. In the jail he was put in a chair and it was noted he couldn't hold his head up. The autopsy revealed that was because his neck was broken.

The other was a transient hitch hiking to a desperately needed job. He was a citizen but his English wasn't real good and he too failed to obey the command. In the jail he became ill and even though other prisoners pleaded for help for him it didn't come and he died of injuries suffered in the arrest.

For both of these expert medical assistance was no more than 100 feet away. The "internal investigations" showed that the standard procedure of waiting for a visiting nurse to come around several days later was followed so there was no fault.

A bit farther away a deaf and mentally challenged young man with his hands in the air was shot to death for failing to comply.

In none of these cases was anyone even reprimanded and the "internal investigations" showed that all proper procedures were followed. In none of these cases were the victims actually committing a crime.

Tell me that isn't going on where you live.

I'm sad more than mad. That is my police force. That is my jail.

One of these days it will be one of us who goes down. Dave will jab Pote and VT will jab Dave and we'll all fuss about red and blue and left and right so it will all be ok......

If it is you who falls and not me I will shed a liberally conservative tear for you.
