Arrow Welfare state realities come home to roost; Dems cutting food stamps to pay for Medicaid, teachers

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0810/40866.html

The implosion of the welfare state is starting. This is the first time the Dems have been forced to slash a popular entitlement for the poor. This is triage, but it will not save the patient.

Watch the reconciliation process closely (if it passes Senate). They might yet sneak some largesse back in.

It does not matter. The math and the demographics are undeniable. The fact that they were even forced into publicly cutting food stamps proves that. This is just the beginning. There is much, much worse to come. I never expect to see a dime of my Social Security.
