I guess they are glad it was the Japanese and not a USCG cutter.

Not like they tried to hide it either. Smoke pouring from the stack, wheel to port, no attempt to evade.
Yeah, we would have put a few 25mm rounds across his bow at the very least. The Coasties are getting the new Mk110 gun too. That woulda sprinkled that little trawler all over the ocean floor.
