They're saying 18-24 here.
If it gets above 24, I'll have to shovel the top layer off just to use the snow blower

mine's a sears craftsman, 8hp, iirc, 24 inches wide
electric start
problem here becomes one of snow management, ie where to put it verses wind direction

I'm not flying in to that area, but I sure hope the planes we need for our flights make it to where they're supposed to be. That weather sounds nasty.

rb - we're at the very edge of this system & the winds we're getting are pretty fierce. I can't imagine what it's like in the thick of it with the snow flying.

Wow, DD's email is dated 10:30. Drudge says: 19" in Elizabeth (8 inches in 90 min), and Pomona has 22.5" of snow.

How are the drifts, USB? With a fine, dry snow they should be quite high.
No word from DD yet... towns around her reported 20+ inches at 2:30 am. She is a very early riser so I hope she still has electric.
As of 6 am, Elizabeth has 29" of snow. Most likely a record. The refineries (actually next door in Linden) are indeed snowed under. This is going to be a HUGE expense for the States.

So the sun can take its time and do the same work as dropping $10 million on plowing, cinder and salt.

Slept in until past nine - maybe the wind rattling the building kept me awake...LOL Actually, it DID wake me up a few times. It's pretty cold & still windy here but still clear as well. Staggered out of bed & put CNN on - only caught 1/4, no doubt, of the weather storeis - but yikes! A national newscast starting now & that's the #1 story - titled 'Snowmaggedon'.
My youngest flew into Halifax yesterday - beat the storm in I hope.
I can't believe the videos I'm seeing.

I worry about my kids now that they are grown up, FAR more than I ever worried about them when they were running around my own house. When *I* was taking care of them they were warm, well fed, and I kissed their boo boos. Now... who KNOWS what they are doing! They're going to be cold! They will be hungry! They will BLEED. Then they call me from Puerto Rico and say, "Hey mom, just wanna let you know it got too cold in NJ. We caught a plane to the beach and we're sitting here drinking rum."

ABC national news were reading Tweets they got in reaction from their reporting this morning.
"We get 7-8 of these types of storms every winter. What is the big deal?"
I laugh because you know, NYC is the center of the world.

LOL - I suspect why the press is jumping all over this one is the scope of the nor-easter. This would be nothing new for Maine, Vermint, etc. Last winter saw some interesting storms - who can forget DC?
Us - we're just getting the same blasted wind we've had since early fall.

that was easy
2 hrs to snow blow 2 feet of global warming
probably will need to do it again later, as we're getting another 2-3 inches plus drifting
