I would put this up to PR by the Chinese government.
Oh, they may form a single governmental district, but it isn't one large city like we envision.
I have been through a lot of it, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Donguan, Foshan and there is a lot of open area.
But perhaps they will use it to plan the infrastructure to handle the population and movement between the cities.
There is already excellent train service between Hong Kong, and Guangzhould stopping at cities along the way.
Perhaps they will make legs to the others.

And much of the Los Angeles Basin used to be bean fields and orange groves. I do not think we will have to wait too long until it does become one solid urban area.

A city twice the size of Wales....like playing Sim City for real aiming to max out the game.
It's more like an urban area then a city?
LA is about 4M which is already dwarved by the 17M population of Guanghzou/Fushan which has already fused.
It's a pretty big area 16,000 square miles compared to LA:

Los Angeles is irregularly shaped and covers a total area of 498.3 square miles (1,291 km2), comprising 469.1 square miles (1,215 km2) of land and 29.2 square miles (76 km2) of water.

I wonder how fast that'll become a solid area.
~ I just have a hard time imagining the size of the cities because i'm , LA is a little under 25% of my countries population.

Cities with between 60,000 and 100,000 inhabitants are mostly called 'middelgrote steden' (medium-sized cities),[citation needed] and the ones with over 100,000 inhabitants are mostly referred to as 'grote steden' (big cities)

Guanghzou/Fushan equals our total population.
Once i'll visit LA and drive along those roads but it's kind of hard to visualize what it looks like. (And drive down the PCH blasting aprropriate music )
