Hilda Solis backs mass union rallies scheduled to take place throughout the U.S. on 4 April.

They should do it on 4/1, which would be more appropriate. Unions have become a parody of themselves. In 1911, they were fighting for a 6 day workweek and an end to abhorrent working conditions. In 2011, they are fighting against, God forbid, actually having to pay towards their Cadillac healthcare plans and unsustainable pensions.

I like unions fighting for basic labour rights - safe working conditions, reasonable hours of work & hours of rest.

MOST of that for MOST professions is now covered by legislation.

That leaves goodies to argue over & we're no longer enjoying a bon-bon economy.
