The commish had the nerve to blame the fans because they won't buy tickets to see a lousy team. There was no mention of incompetence with the staff which, imho, is where the blame should fall.

It is Atlanta. Why the heck watches hockey there?
I say move it.

Agreed Pot - I don't think 'hockey' when I think of Atlanta. Thee's no hockey heritage & other sports enjoy a far bigger fan base.
The NHL got greedy & stupid with expansions to the southern US - few markets there doing that well.

...and Tampa....and San Jose...and anywhere else that doesn't normally have snow in the winter. How can you have fans if people can't grow up playing in the backyard, on a snow covered street, or a neighbourhood rink?
I sure hope they'll use the Jets name again.

As far as I know the Sharks have sold out every game since they moved into the Shark tank from the Cow Palace in 1993. Remember that there are tons of Canadian, Midwestern and NE transplants in Silicon Valley. There is also a huge local fan base because SJ, a town of nearly 1 million, has no major league sport other than hockey. Before the Sharks there where the Seals, who were one of the most successful minor league team. Can't vouch for TB.

The Zamboni in Atlanta crashed because the operator couldn't drive on 3/4" of ice.

I was thrilled for Winnipeg & anywhere in central Canada Canadians want a team to call their own.
But Gary Bettman can take a flyign leap. The SOB pouted all the way through the news conference - talk about thinly veiled attitude. If he had his way, every Canadian team would move to a 'big', American, money generating market. He doesn't get it. You simply can't up & move a team to a non-natural hockey milieu & expect the fans to magically appear. There's a reason we only have 1 NBA team in Canada - we're just not really into b-ball & most Americans in warmer parts of the US aren't into hockey.
Bettman is stubborn & that level of pigheadedness is going to end up costing the NHL a mint. Let teams go to NATURAL hockey markets.
