When I skimmed through the article my first thought was the "Georgia Guidestones". Just Google the term if you haven't heard about them. There is definitely some interesting stuff written in different languages on those large stones by an unknown organization/person out in the middle of nowhere in Georgia. Not many people have heard about them. I have lived in the south for many years and just recently found out about them. I have done some research on the mysterious stones and really want to take a trip to see them in person. My point is, two of the principles written on the guidestones say:

2# Guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity.

This is just a conspiracy theory, but some believe there is a plan by the illuminanti to get rid of many folks off the face of the earth at some point for population control. I am not sure how that will occur though, just use your imagination and the web to get some ideas.

Why 500,000,000? Who set that number based on what criteria?
How are people to be distributed throughout the world? Who decides who gets to breed?

The person/organization behind the Georgia guidestones is a complete mystery; but whoever they are, they had lots of money to do that project and deliberately thought out the details, including the way the stones are positioned. Why that particular number (500, 000, 000) is also a complete mystery as well. After the research I did (which only led to more questions and no real answers), my theory is the author(s) created the stones for (what they believe will be) survivors of some kind of apocalyptic event, like new beginning guidelines to follow. The group may believe some event will happen in the future that will cause a major reduction in population.

I thought 500,000,000 was the number that could live optimally past peak oil. Water, wind, solar power, raising crops without the use of chemical fertilizers or machinery, etc.
