Default I am a Balletomane--anyone else?

I've seen Nureyev dance, Barishnikov, twice even, but now that excellent videos are available I don't bother with attending live performances. Currently I am enchanted with Allesandra Ferri and Angel Corella's interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, my favorite ballet.

While I am not a balletomane I did see Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake performed at the Bolshoi in Moscow years ago.

While I admire the athletic ability and gracefulness of the dancers, ballet is not my cup of tea. Having said that -the significance of seeing Swan Lake in the Bolshoi was not lost on me. I do hold that as one of my fondest memories of my time in Russia.

In high school, my friends and I used to volunteer as ushers at the San Fransisco Opera House. That way we got to see all of the operas and ballet performances for free. We just had to stand for them (me in high heels ). I loved the Nutcracker. Sigh...very nice memories to cherish.
