Not surprising given that Israel views the U.S. and the Jewish-American community as nothing more than cash cows and muscle to help them maintain their position among hostile neighbors. The story behind the story is that Arabs in Israel and Palestine are rapidly out-reproducing Israeli Jews, and it is just a matter of time before Israel loses the demographic battle. For what it is worth, most Jews I know would rather get a root canal than spend Hanukah in Israel. And many kids of mixed families love it that they get to celebrate both XMas and Hanukah. I know I would have.
