A similar claim has been made about the Mayan pyramids. Sound scientists have claimed that they were designed to enhance sound to confound the masses.
The use of crazy sounds would be especially startling considering the mind bending drugs that were being used.

The thing I do not get about the article is that with the revelation of the acoustic engineering that went into Stonehenge, anthropologists then try to dismiss any religious or shamanistic ritual use of the site. The two are in no way mutually exclusive. To the contrary, priests using such devices to convince the people of that the gods have granted them special powers, and that the gods dwell in this holy site seems like an extremely likely explanation of the motive behind building it.

Even though the headline made it sound mutually exclusive, there were mentions of rituals in the article.
There is no way a leader could muster the man-power to build Stonehenge without some very potent religious motivation. I also did not detect any actual experiment so am assuming that they came to the conclusion by doing the math.

First: how did they know about accoustic engineering?
If they were aware they knew because they had built similar models before.
But older versions where in wood & i also demand evidence for two bag pipers at a ceremony. Where did they get that?
