I've never quite understood why women are held to a higher standard than men in this regard. Its a fairly recent development, especially in the "nether regions"

Yep, pretty much what I suspected: someone made money off it, and now its so ingrained that anyone who doesn't is abnormal. Pretty much like when Gilette released the safety razor: no one had one so they gave them away for free, then, once they had the razor, they had to buy blades. Instant market.

I think each person should do whatever they want to with armpit hair, leg hair, pubic hair....abnormal should be changing from 'normal'...as your body is naturally to whatever changed you make.
Normal is the natural way....even if society pushed us to alter it to abnormal. I'm not shaving what I dont' wanna shave and I'm not getting plastic surgery cuz 'everyone' is doing it.
Maybe we need protests to stop the insanity of changes people push each other to make to our bodies.

Yeah, once we get rid of that annoying 'human nature' thing, life will be much easier.
