good loord that is insane even on my worst day I dont think I have EVER drank that much

good news is I needed to go out and buy a belt... bad news is I had to go to the overpriced fat MENS store because the fat womens store think only 1x or 2x women would ever need a belt

now as long as the prednisone they have me on doesnt bloat me out I will stay happy!

Default Woman's death blamed on 2+ gallon a day Coke habit

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/ar...ectid=10800154

Obviously it must be Coca-cola's fault and they need to put warning labels on the product.

I'm sure the fact that she also smoked 30 cigarette/day and didn't eat much played very little role in her health problems...

I thought about this thread when I heard that story but didn't have time to post it.

Eight liters a day -- good gawds, either the woman spent all her time sitting on the pot to get rid of it, or she had a bladder the size of Lake Michigan!

Went to a lecture on exercise, and the instructer said 58 ounces of fluid a day, more if you are exercising. (less than 8 glasses.)

When I checked that figure on the net, it seems the more you weigh the more fluid you should drink to stay healthy. There are charts on the net.

Dr Mercola's blog is saying that the worst one is Pepsie Next? The one with a combination of 3 sugar substitutes. I know I am anti diet soda or using any of the sugar substitutes myself. Especially after I killed a load of sugar ants by putting some in water which they rushed to absorb and died. Neurotoxins.

It happens. It's going to be a learning process & there will be times when you kind of lose it...LOL.

At the risk of sounding like an enabler - is there any reason you can't permit yourself ONE soda a day? Or is it a case of "one is too many & a thousand never enough"?

I only drink root or birch or ginger beer for a root beer float, some ginger ale, and carbonated sparkling water or an occassional dr Pepper and ice cream float

. But I did drink colas and lemon, or a cherry cola as a teen and liked them then, especially with a slice of pizza. I preferred Dr. Pepper. Now I find them cloyingly sweet and can't drink a full glass even slowly. I have to force myself to finish a can. So I rarely do.

I would avoid the diet things, I think they are harmfull, and unpleasant to taste as well.

Your tastes will change, and eventually you will wonder why you liked them so much. When the weight drops off, you'll be glad you weaned yourself away from so much.

Can you teach an alcoholic to be a social drinker?

About the only thing my first mother in law did was to nag me off regular sodas.

Now, if I drink one I get that nasty "hairy teeth" feeling.

That's what I was asking - if she was really ADDICTED - in which case none ever, is best or if she could learn to control it.

From what I read a couple years ago, it's like one ounce of liquid per pound of your weight. My kidney specialist wants me to drink three liters of liquid per day to help keep my kidney's clean.

If I drank the 5 liters it says I need, I'd slosh when I walk. I know part of it is in food, but dang.

There has never been conclusive research done on optimum daily fluid intake. Any number you're given is pure conjecture.

I don't count, I drink a few cider or tea in the morning, a bit at lunch, a bit at midday, some at dinner, and a swig to down my meds and vitamins and herbs while I'm reading in the evening. Too much liquids and it interferes with sleep and then its difficult to fall back asleep.

I'm cutting out coffee and sticking to green, white, ginger and roobios teas, plus rosehips which I used to drink in Europe instead of coffee. Also diluting black current juices in Seltzer (no sodium) or sparkling water, plus some spring water. Occasional coconut juice

I go by what urine looks like, deep colors too little fluid. It should be straw colored not deep yellow.

I also go by how my lips feel. If they start getting dry I drink more. I haven't had chapped lips in years. I'm sticking with the 3 liters a day the kidney specialist wants me to drink.

yep... I dont think ppl realize how much soda they drink... get a 32oz coke at mcd's and eat in the restaurant and with salty fries halfway thru your over salted burger you realize the soda is empty so you get up to get a refill then before you leave you refill the soda... next thing you know you've had 96oz of soda/coke at that meal alone equaling 1120 calories not including the burger and fries.

I didnt until I sat down and did the math. It is rather horrifying

---------- Post added at 10:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:44 AM ----------

I remember when I was a kid mcdonalds large cups were the size of todays mediums... SUPER SIZE IT.... sheesh and ppl wonder why there are more fat ppl

Basically we eat with our eyes. The body does tell the brain that it has had enough with some signal but that process is usually to slow for our eating pace. Actually we use our eyes to cue us in.

One researcher had developed several tests. One of these was a automatically refilling bowl. Everybody ate more then just eating from the same bowl without a refill & there were other reverse examples.

This is similar to the 'eating goggles' produced by some Japanese scientists recently.

I'm 60 and have been drinking coke since I was about 12, (lived next to a coke bottling plant). If I averaged out all the cokes I have drank of those 40 years it would definitely be at least 1 a day, more likely much more. I have no health problems other than a little over weight since I quit smoking 5 years ago. Sh##t now that I've said that, I'll probably have cancer next week.

I used to down a half dozen Pepsi a day - always had a can in my hand. That added up to 60 oz. Now I SIP & top out at two a day - usually only one Pepsi & either a root beer or cream soda. It's a tough habit to break but I have such a small appetite, I didn't need the feeling of full it gave me, nor the empty calories.

I don't get it with the soda problem. We had them at home when I was a kid sometimes, but it was pretty much a treat type of thing. CA was hot in summer, and it was nice to have something cold to drink, but I loved iced tea just as much, or a thinned downed juice. Usually I got to hear, "Drink water. It's cheap." Here I am usually cold most of the year, and then I want something hot to drink. It is always coffee or tea for the most part. Germans are big on sparkling mineral water too, so we usually have that in the house, but I don't drink it that often.

Better than soda IMO, iced tea:
