Except that there is no technology available that works, and economic conditions would have to include $300 oil. This is kerogen: oil shale (NOT the same as the shale they're doing all that nasty ol' fracking in, that provides an energy source that actually works). No one has ever figured out a way to recover it that makes any kind of sense.
What is wrong with government these days? Have they all lost their tiny little government minds?
Uncover a resource, make the economic situation amenable, and someone WILL find a way to use the resource.

Period, huh? Wow. I mean, I was going to debate the point, but period? An argument doesn't get any more definitive than that, does it?
The fact that someone WILL find a way to use the resource, period, no doubt explains why fusion power and solar energy are currently neck and neck to run our civilization, right? The fact that there is no way whatsoever to exploit either, and none on the horizon, shouldn't give us the least bit of pause.
