Strange cloud over Indianapolis looks ominously like an atomic mushroom cloud

I saw something like this once and it scared the crap out of me. It was a mushroom shaped cloud with a full moon behind it giving it the eeriest light. Like this one, it was the only cloud in a sky brightly lit by the full moon. I'm guessing it was in 1980 or 81 because I had just read Hiroshima for a high school English class.

Freaky.

I recall a similar cloud back maybe around that time, in southern CA. Was married to ex and we were on the way home from either a friends place in Lemon Grove or the beach ...... Can't remember which one, but I do remember we stopped at a KFC for a bucket of chicken.......
