Unhappy Power goes out in large swath of downtown Toronto on steamy night

Toronto is under severe heat/humidity warnings:

They sure didn't need this - even if it only lasts a few more hours.

Having lived two blocks north of that outage, in August, that truly sucks. I've been waiting for our power to go out here. Three or four days straight running the AC.

We're holding... today dawned much drier than we've experienced in the last week or two. I am absolutely dreading tomorrow though. I have a bank along a driveway to clean out - some of the weeds are taller than I am & I have saplings to cut out. I got a start a few days ago but there's an awful lot of hot work remaining. I also have to finish weeding right around a pool - shouldn't be that tough save that the ground I'm working is rather like cement after no real rain in a while.

It's 20, (68), right now - as low as it's going to get & tomorrow where I'll be working, it will easily break 90 with accompanying humidity. I simply HAVE to wear jeans for clearing out the bank. Wjat the owner wants to keep is crown vetch but it's laced with nettles, ants, the odd snake & who knows what else. I'll be thoroughly spraying myself with bug spray - the deer flies are legion.

When I move to the pool area, I'll be changing to shorts. I've packed extra clothes & towels. I plan to wear a wet towel around my neck & a light overshirt I'll be frequently dipping into the pool - which I will also be using the traditional way a few times.

I'll earn my pesos tomorrow - a good thing & will also get a chance to polish off my tan...

Power is out in a large part of E TN, including our house, thanks to a line of very heavy storms. Right before it went down at around 7 pm, we recorded a gust of 47 MPH.

Don't have our fancy weather equipment working now so all I know is that it's hot as hell and like a sauna indoors and out.

Think it's going to be a very long night. Could someone please upland some cool breezes?

Sorry Cat, no cool breezes here.

Sue, if you cross a Metro store, Gatorade has been on sale.
