'PossumPrep' sounds good to me!
-gives info on what we're about
-easy to say
-has some humor in it
-No '-', '_', '&', ......
-does NOT mention 'news'

EvenTrackers.com

Favorite by far. It fits. None of the others do, IMO.

This is my final offer, I'm far too busy today to keep thinking on this.

NotNecessarilyNews.COM is available!

Available in .com .org .net

Maybe we could run the poll again, now that we have more suggestions.

I think OddTrackers would be closer to the truth, if you ask me...

well, I'm domain named out. As far as I'm concerned, since jason and flourbug are going to be footing the bill, they can come up with whatever name they want. They both seem to have enough sense to not pick one that's entirely stupid, so I'll go with whatever they choose.

Then we can carry on with building something better than what we have...and who knows..maybe something better than we've had.

it's an interesting name, but then we need eventracker, eventrackers and eventtracker and eventtrackers so we don't lose users. We'd then need it in .com, .net, and .org for all 4 combination so we don't end up with a split website like ce.com and ce.org.

The goal here is something memorable. It doesn't matter for those who have it bookmarked. It needs to be something you'll recall without having to think about the name or what combination it is, and something you don't have to repeat when telling someone in person the domain name.

I already know my choice for the domain that is the most memorable. Having just purchased 17 domains for this site so far, I'm in the unfortunate position that no matter which one we go with, not everyone will be happy with the result. So I can either just do what has to be done, or let someone else make the choice.

If you've mentally picked one & it's memorable, go for it. It will become what we make it.

We're all for someone coming up with a better name. It's not a 'my way or the highway' type thing at all. It's whatever will WORK the best, and if you suggest something better then we're on it like glue. The thing is, sometimes what looks great to a layman really sucks when it comes to being an optimal domain name. Jason is the SEO/webmaster whizkid here (he spent several years working for a search engine) so I listen to him. I really like EvenTrackers. I really really like it. It's catchy. But six domains pointed at this one site in order to cover all the possibilities of misspelling...ehhh.

btw, eventtrackers is taken:

Domain Name: EVENTTRACKERS.COM
Creation Date: 21-apr-2005

Anyone ever see 'Being John Malkovich'? Using eventrackers when there is an eventtrackers around will be like being on the 7½ floor instead of the 7th floor. JMHO anyway.

Oh for gosh sakes. Just pick something and be done with it. We'll either live with it or go elsewhere just as we choose to do every day. I hope it's not something goofy, but just pick something. Agonizing over it is only going to make everyone crazy.

But just think, once you have your bases covered, you have a really good catchy name that really says what we are. Additionally, I think it is a powerful name that could really benefit the site and even with, and perhaps because of, the possible misspellings, could be a powerful drawing tool.

Do you think we could swing it?

But I am with the others. Whatever you decide. I'm just glad I had a good idea to contribute (since attackllama didn't seem to catch on ).

Jason, www.currentevents.com is also taken. That didn't really impact CurEvents.com.

The very different look and feel of CurEvents, com and currentevents.com instantly told me I was at the wrong site and made a typo.

As I said to flourbug above, I think EvenTrackers.com is a very powerful, catchy, memorable, descriptive name that will work well and actually strengthen this site as a community and presence on the web.

But whatever you two decide

I'm still seeing curevents.org in the address bar.
