Default Another Flip?

More at the source:

Quote:
On the heels of an apparant avalanche of flip-flops on campaign comments, President Trump has notified Congress that Iran is complying with the "disastrous... worst deal ever negotiated" 2015 nuclear deal negotiated by former President Obama.

During his campaign, Trump raised the prospect the United States will pull out of the nuclear pact it signed last year with Iran, alienating Washington from its allies and potentially freeing Iran to act on its ambitions.
Trump called the nuclear pact a "disaster" and "the worst deal ever negotiated" during his campaign and said it could lead to a "nuclear holocaust."

In a speech to the pro-Israel lobby group AIPAC in March, Trump declared that his “Number-One priority” would be to “dismantle the disastrous deal with Iran.”
All of which makes it fascinating to note that, as AP reports, the Trump administration has notified Congress that Iran is complying with the terms of the 2015 nuclear deal negotiated by former President Barack Obama, and says the U.S. has extended the sanctions relief given to the Islamic republic in exchange for curbs on its atomic program. The certification of Iran's compliance, which must be sent to Congress every 90 days, is the first issued by the Trump administration.

Iran may be complying with the deal as written, but it is still a lousy long term deal..,

Trump is correct in that regard.

Tillerson did come out today and certify Iran is in compliance, but he thought that lifting the sanctions based on that certification was wrong at this time..,

When you are in compliance with ''the worst deal ever negotiated''
you are probably winning .

If they are in compliance how is it a ''flip'' ?

IMO there are some things Trump should ''flip'' on . He is new to the
job and hopefully learning . Would you rather a President who remained
dogmatically rigid on a predetermined course ?

I am not a Trump fan but I tell this to people all the time.

No one, until they get into Office, knows all of the details.

Wouldn't you rather have a person who "flips" (changes course based on new information obtained) or one that follow a course of political expediency?

My guess these are anti-Trump forces criticizing him, because they lose some political power by him NOT following his previous course but not taking up their course (or one more centrist).

Anything to poke him in the eye.

Making a statement or defining a campaign position without all the facts can be risky business. However, the Iran Agreement isn't an "agreement" at all. In fact, it was never signed by Iran and isn't legally binding whatsoever.

Used to be things like this were run through Congress but this was Obama's pet project that has done nothing but increase tensions in the region and reduce stability by increasing the chances of a Mid East arms race. It's a way to placate the masses by thinking something is being done to curb Iran's nuclear ambitions. In reality all it is is an official blind eye.

Trump was right to oppose it on the campaign trail and he's wrong to flip on it now.
