Default Strange things washing ashore in the Philippines

Quote:
Strange things are happening on the shores of the Philippines right now, with two massive carcasses washing up in separate locations, sparking questions over what's been dredging them out of the sea.

Regarding that first one, if you've never kept an aquarium, you would be amazed at what creatures look like after dying. Especially if you come upon them some time after death.

Simple DNA tests if someone is willing to pony up to satisfy curiosity.

The first one is a long dead whale carcass.

The second one is an Oarfish - they're a deep water species never seen at the surface unless they're dead or dying. They've had a number of them wash up in the Philippines recently which is highly unusual. Something going on down deep. Some have speculated possibly an impending earthquake, but as yet I don't think anyone has determined the cause for sure.

Edited to add: Maybe something down in the Mindanao trench heading in a generally northeastern direction?
