Thanks Potemkin. I'd been trying to search online if there was a quadrivalent this year. I'm planning on getting the jab next week.

I don't understand why the quad isn't standard.

Sure international travelers are the main people who get the quad but it one return traveler or visitor from Asia and you have an immunologically novel strain in the US wreaking havoc.

An Asian cold is bad enough.

Got mine a week ago, but read an article yesterday that suggested that for us old folks, it might be a good plan to wait until late October to Early November.

I hope there's a choice from the Quad. When I had it two years ago I developed significant wheezing, diarrhea, and itching at the injection site. Last year I was given the trivalent in my allergists office, which, according to him, had no additives in it. Was special ordered. I still reacted to it with wheezing and dizziness for two days. But the symptoms were less than with the quad. I'm not sure if they will allow me to have the shot this year. My PCP is opposed but allergist says ok if I sit in the office for a few hours afterward.

Got mine yesterday morning. I'd forgotten I got it until I went to get in the shower this morning and found a bandaid on my arm. Only a very slight soreness at injection site, less soreness than in previous years.

Felt a bit achy a couple of days after I got mine, and went to bed early. Better in the morning.

When I got my pneumonia PCV13 shot two months ago, the nurse told me to come back middle September for the second pneumonia shot PPSV23. The literature says I should normally wait one year in between those shots. That same nurse said that when I come for that second shot, she will give me the flu shot at the same time.
Ok, I hesitate, haven't been yet.

I checked the formulation of this year's shot with the WHO - same as last year. So far in Canada & we're really 'inter-season' the circulating strains appear to be a good match for the shot.

It was hard to evaluate last year's flu season in my locality. Yes, we had a lot of sick people but we had an exceptionally mild & damp winter. I know a lot of folks who went from simple colds to bouts of bacterial pneumonia that doctors really struggled to treat.

I had my shot yesterday, mentioned that it really kicked my butt this year - I don't feel sick as much as exhausted. Funny, I had no reaction last year - neither did SO & this year, he also felt tired. I checked the vax batch numbers & they're different so it's not that.

The one thing to watch for, in the southern hemisphere a new B strain showed up - in small numbers but it could make its way here by the end of flu season.

Got mine two days ago.

Hope I don't get the flu AGAIN like I did last year.

Been a week now, immunities should be almost built up. The first few days, felt like I could have slept the clock around but if that's the worst of the side effects, I'm happy.

I got the flu shot yesterday while wife and kids got the nasal spray (wife is allergic to the preservative in the normal vaccine). Just heard this morning that they are now thinking the spray isn't likely to be very effective, however, so I might be taking care of sick family members in the upcoming flu season...
