Default Going bananas in Britain

This weather's bananas! Couple's banana plant produces fruit for first time in 20 years thanks to warm winter and damp summer

Nida and Henry Mordaunt had a banana plant in their garden for 20 years
The giant plant, which is over 6ft tall, has never produced fruit - until now
Thanks to mild winter and wet summer plant fruited bananas for first time

Health care assistant Nida Mordaunt, 60, from Quedgeley,
Gloucester, brought a tiny root from a banana plant back from the
Philippines in her suitcase more than two decades ago - and it has
now fruited for the first time
Chance favors the prepared mind.
