Thumbs up Building with shipping containers

It is amazing what they have done with these shipping containers. I wonder how they keep them from heating up in the sun though.

There are always dozens of reasons why something "can't" be done. That's no excuse in my book. If you want it bad enough, you find a way. That's how life works for grown ups. -- Booger

Insulation and AC, Mouse. I wonder how they got building permits for them, though. TPTB tend to look askance at non-traditional building methods. Maybe not in a place that requires them?

Really like the second design. Just about the right size for me.

Love the porch, though I'd prefer a roof of some kind. Either with beams for support of a living green roof or some sort of roll out to provide shade when needed.

Add a water collection system on the roof, solar panels, and square foot gardens and it would be Eden IMO.

Shipping Container Prices
Shipping container prices is usually the primary concern for customers looking for a container. Pricing typically depends on the size of the shipping container, and if you are renting or leasing, the duration of your contract (the longer the contract the lower the monthly rate). Here is a general guide to shipping container rates:

New Shipping Container Prices
Prices for new shipping containers typically depends on the features added on, and your location (the closer you are to large shipping ports, he cheaper it will be). Reefers (rerigerated shipping containers) are the most expensive by far (usually $1,000 - $ 2,000 more).

10 Ft Shipping Containers - $1,500 - $2,500.
20 Ft Shipping Containers - $2,000 - $5,000.
40 Ft Shipping Containers - $3,500 - $7,000.
Used Shipping Container Prices
Used containers will typically be about $500 - $1,000 cheaper compared to new units, but varies depending on the condition of the unit, and whether there are any add-ons.

10 Ft Used Shipping Containers - $1,000 - $2,000
20 Ft Used Shipping Containers - $1,750 - $4,500
40 Ft Used Shipping Containers - $2,500 - $5,500
Shipping Container Rental Rates
The longer that you rent or lease a shipping container, the less you will have to pay each month. You may also need to factor in delivery and pick up fees, which are usually around $75 - $125 each way.

10 Ft Shipping Container Rentals - $75 - $110
20 Ft Shipping Container Rentals - $95 - $150
40 Ft Shipping Container Rentals - $195 - $275

I always thought using insulated or thermal containers would be a good idea.
