Default 100th running of the Indy 500

Just so those who have not experienced it, can get an idea of the size of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway:

The sell out crowd for Sunday is 350,000.

That's

Quote:

As CEO Mark Miles pointed out, that's as big as the populations of South Bend and Fort Wayne — combined.

That's 37 percent of the entire population of Marion County, all squeezed into a 2.5 mile oval.

It's 59 percent of the entire population of the state of Wyoming.

More people than attended the last four Super Bowls — combined. It's almost five times bigger than Indy's Super Bowl.

Nearly twice as many people as attended the record-breaking 2015 Kentucky Derby.

Over 100,000 people more than attended all the games of the 2015 World Series.

More than double the attendance of the last-reported Daytona 500 attendance in 2012.

On Sunday, one person out of every 1,000 people in the U.S. will be at the Indy 500.

They've even lifted the TV blackout of the race for central Indiana!

I'm an open wheel vroomie. Hope they show the salute to the Pearl Harbour vets live on teevee. AND the flypast!

Doesn't hurt that the pole sitter is a home boy.

I had been to Indy 500 once .. The whole concept is boring. Go round and round in an oval track. Sorry F1 is much better and exciting.

The formula that holds the Indy 500 also does street races & courses that do more than go around & around... thank Gawd.

I saw a driver actually pass another in an F1 race once. Pretty exciting. I understand it does happen from time to time.

I guess you don't like football either. A team scores a goal (if any) from time to time
