Default Welcome to Pleistocene Park

Russians scientists reveal plan to restore part of Arctic Siberia to its Ice Age condition (complete with lab-grown woolly mammoths)

Grasslands of the Mammoth Steppe dominated the surface during Pleistocene
It’s thought that grasslands reflect more sunlight than the forests there today
This would allow winter freeze to penetrate deeper into crust, cooling the soil
Park is attempting to reintroduce herbivores and eventually woolly mammoths

Over the years, the trees at Pleistocene Park have been flattened
using powerful tank-like vehicles. But, in order to keep the trees
from taking over again, the ambitious plans call for the services
of hundreds of thousands of woolly mammoths
Chance favors the prepared mind.
