I too have only been able to locate it at local health food stores.

I was actually surprised to learn that this product is REALLY starting to FLY off the shelves in our area.

I placed an order for an additional three bottles from a local store, she was only able to get me two.

Add that to my three I have and I feel totally underprepared!

ontariomom, same for me. I ordered 6 bottles of Herbs, Etc.'s extract from my local store Sept. 2. They called Monday, and said they could only get 2 bottles in. Good thing I ordered online from Herb's Etc. myself, when I found out a few weeks ago that they hadn't even ordered it yet. Got 4 online (exactly what I ordered), so I ended up with my 6 anyway. I competed against myself.

I think those of us who use it may have stocked up a bit more than usual. Sadly, I usually have up to 10 bottles on hand every fall, and this year, only 6. Gone through one already since Friday or Saturday.

OUCH! What are you using at $16/bottle? Mine is $10/$11 at the health food store, for an eye dropper bottle with 1 oz. (29.5ml). It's more expensive buying online...about the same price, but US funds, delivery, and I had to pay duty on it as well.

Have you guys considered making your own? Not hard to do, not expensive, and we have the recipes for syrup and for tincture right here in the forum.

ontariomom, I'm using extract from Herbs Etc. Forty drops in a bit of water, every four hours. Lasts quite a while. A typical winter I go through about 4 or 5 bottles from the start of school, up to the spring, for 3 of us. DH doesn't usually require it.

OH, I contemplated making my own way back when, but then life and ill family members were using my time. During that time I found it relatively easy to get a hold of the extract, so I gave up on that idea. I just waited too long this year to order it. I usually do it the beginning of August, when I start looking for the kids' school clothes.

Well if I can't screw it up no one can.

The tincture is easy, no work at all. DD did the syrup and it is as easy as making jam.

We get the berries online for $7.50/lb with low flat rate shipping and fast delivery.

I imagine you can order from there. The berries come from Bulgaria anyway and that is the proven European plant.

Really, not too hard to do for either.

Holler if you need help.

My goodness folks! It takes AT MOST 15 minutes to put tgether 3 QUARTS of elderberry tincture at a cost of less than $30! Surely you can spare 15 minutes of your time to potentially save lives, not to mention saving LOTS of $$$$$.

Yeah, GL, but have you ever tried to get stuff over the Canadian border? As long as I can get the extract, I'm iffy about trying to get the berries across. And if they don't know what it is, it could still be sitting at Customs, waiting for clearance, when the next pandemic hits. Not to mention, if they let it through, what the Duty will be on it.
