Max, Max...

Periodic proper review & decluttering of non-essentials, reorganization of stuff you're keeping...

leaves more room for prep items, tools of the trade & the fun stuff you elect to keep. Back her up with the Shop-Vac!

Oh Oh

Now I am situated so I HAVE to look at the clutter catching dining room table and matching clutter catching kitchen bar....

The next big plan. Pick ONE area for clutter - anything you feel you have to drop, to 'get to later' goes there & there only.

Its narrowed down to the dining room table and its not all that bad. Its just a collection spot. I have trash bins nearby and sort through junk mail as it comes in. Still, there's bills to pay and working office/farm items. Its the back up of the paper glut in the main office area. Paper is my nemesis.

bg - it would be as you have a complicated household in terms of paper. You have paper, Max has paper... I know you're running at least one business & perhaps more... none of my business! Any family is going to run into paper gluts at some point; some more than others.

You sound like you're dealing 'properly' - LOL with it. Eliminating junk immediately & no doubt, dealing with bills, etc. as soon as possible.

We're lucky - 99% of our mail is junk & I deal with it right in the building lobby thanx to the recycling bin. Most bills are dealt with online as is most of our correspondence. I KNOW we're lucky that way - not everyone can manage to streamline paper to that degree.

I loathe the junk mail. Each business has the residue of it plus there are at least 7 people who get mail of some sort here.

I started my first business in 1993. Since then there have been only 4 (plus contracting this house) with the current one being multifaceted in that this business has "projects". You're right, the paperwork accumulated is a wee bit crazy. On the up side, if its 10 years old I can toss it. On the down side, I still have to go through it and shred. Every time a business changed there were those office boxes...you have no idea how many staplers I have...heck "I" have no idea how many staplers I have! Then add my dad's stuff which because he's an only child, includes my grandparents stuff. Max has the same problem and a whole 'nother household of 'it'. We try not to think about 'it' too much. One room at a time is a much better way to go. It will all come around eventually.

On the lighthearted side of our crazy world we found out today that someone dumped a mule at Max's farm. Either that or there is an escaped mule that has taken up residence. No one is certain about anything except there's a mule. There's plenty of pasture, a nice pond for water and a huge barn there soooo it has no reason to leave. We'll have to make a trip over to assess the situation and hopefully have a little visit with the mule. Then we'll decide how to proceed. We live such interesting lives don't we?

I wish I had the kind of life where random mules simply show up! Mind you, that's a little more spendy than new birds at the feeder!

I would hope anyone missing a mule, (that they want back!), would put the word out. If not, you may have a troika of stubborn steeds on your hands.
