Thumbs up 21 Shoe Hacks

Make your shoes more comfortable. I thought these were pretty good.

It is amazing to me what people have forgotten about shoes.

Buy the best shoes you can

Have several pairs, especially work boots, and let them dry between wearings.

Buy shoes than can be repaired

Buy shoes that fit. (Yes, even women. There are some nice stores which
specialize in small, narrow, large fashionable shoes. OK, they aren't going to be Manolo Blahnik but they look nice/hot/cute whatever drives you.)

Find a good shoe repair shop. They can even do things, like low noise heel protectors, BEFORE you start wearing them.

It is so important to have a good cobbler / shoe/ leather goods repair person!

Recently the sole shoe repair near us, closed. It was a one man operation, he did fantastic work, took pride in his craft. A real loss to the area, now that he's retired.

There is another repair place about ten miles away, haven't used them yet, will have no choice, now. Hopefully their work is as good as the man who just retired.

Cobbler is one of those trades that has been slowly dying over the last couple decades, IMO. Perhaps not in TX or the southwest where people appreciate craftsmanship and care for their boots....... But the cheap shoes that are flooded onto the market have replaced the concept of having shoes that can be re-heeled / new soles, put on.

I'm a shoe freak and indulge in my share of 'cheap shoes', but also have 'good shoes' which have lasted years because I was able to take them in for new heels / soles, as needed. Same with my leather bags. Proper care, leather cleaner / conditioner / proper storage all help them last longer.
