Post Another Storm Coming

We just got slapped with another Special Weather Statement - significant snow coming Sunday through Monday... not sure on the timing but a good 12-24 hour dump. Our east coast is being warned to expect blizzard conditions. I'm not sure how far south this system is going to slide but New Englanders could get smacked.

And now they're talking about possibly a third storm... early next week.

All I can say for here is at least it will be warmer.

We're supposed to get 2 feet of snow with 70 mph winds. The snow hasn't started yet, but it is fairly windy. I'm expecting the snow to start at any time now and it's supposed to storm all day, all night and continue on into tomorrow morning. Then we're supposed to get more snow and high winds on Wednesday night and Thursday day. I'll be surprised if we manage to keep our power through all of that. We were away for the weekend and just got back last night so I've got stuff to catch up on in order to be ready for power to potentially be out for a few days.

Don't wrestle with a pig. The pig enjoys it and you get muddy.

Sounds like a real blizzard, RottieMom. I'm sure you have been through these before so here's hoping you stay safe, warm, and well fed through it all.

We got slammed.

Those who don't live in areas that snow will never know the true inner rage that comes from shoveling your driveway, and waking in the morning to find your car blocked in by a three foot wall of snow across the end of the driveway made by the snow plough.

Oh, or better. A three foot wall of ICE chunks, because the city failed to plow enough, and scraped the street down overnight.

My street is currently much higher than my driveway. Despite it snowing about 10 cm daily, we haven't been plowed in a long time. The ice wall cometh.

It started snowing at 9:30 this morning and we still have a lot of snow coming down with very, very high winds blowing it around. Visibility outside is nonexistent, and the power's already been out once. I'm happy it's back on, but I'll be shocked if it stays on. We had a hot supper, the house is nice and warm, and even though the wind is screaming outside, we're comfortable and as well prepared as we can be. Fingers crossed the lights stay on, or that they're only out for a short time if they do go out again.

Rottiemom's area.... our news featured it tonight. Mind you, they CLAIM it was a community in that province but who knows - all I saw was flying white stuff, shadows of what they claim were buildings & vehicles & all this to a back drop of roaring, moaning, windy sounds.

They are getting hammered big time.

Oh I get it. Try shoveling 7 feet of snow only to have the plow use your driveway as a place to put the snow they are moving out of the road. I had 6ft high snow boulders pushed up my driveway by a front end loader.

Wouldn't that be illegal? I'd be on the phone to the city hall ASAP. I mean, you aren't allowed to park a car in front of a driveway. Why should it be OK to park that much snow?

And starting later this evening, we will have nearly an exact replay of Monday - another foot (or two) of snow with very, very high winds.

Hubby's been out grooming snowmobile trails for the last couple hours and won't be back until late tonight. I hope he gets home before the weather gets really bad. The forecast just got updated at 4pm and is considerably worse than what they were calling for earlier. Had he known what was coming, I suspect he would have stayed home. Now I'll be biting my nails until he gets home. Thankfully, he's got another guy out in the groomer with him, so he's got help if anything happens.

Lord love a duck - I just had a look at your forecast. Folks - she's not kidding... at least another foot of snow, driven by 50 mph winds.

rottiemom, hopefully he gets in before late evening when it's expected to really deteriorate.

I turned in a plow driver once. A neighbor had been using his mower with a blade attachment to plow his own drive and pushing the snow out into the street, a big no no here. When the plow driver came by he lifted his plow and didn't plow away what the neighbor pushed out. I reported him and as he came by on our side of the street he spend up and flung snow clear up on our yard and covered the sidewalk we had just cleared. He covered the next door neighbors sidewalk too and he came out and saw it happen and he called the guy in. I've always wondered if the guy kept his job.

The snow hasn't really started yet and I just talked to hubby and thankfully they finished grooming ahead of schedule. I'm very grateful that he'll be home soon before the storm really gets going.
