Default Human bones found at Newberry (FL) home

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) “Just before 10 o’clock this morning Deputies were responding in reference to a female caller who stated while having her septic tank serviced that the septic tank provider noticed what appeared to be some type of skelator remains inside the septic tank,” said Sgt. Chris Sims, Alachua County Sheriff's Office P.I.O.

Alachua County Deputies have confirmed that the bones found are in fact human skeletal remains making this an on going investigation.

Deputies arrived on scene at 21701 Northwest 52nd place in Newberry where the bones were found.

It is still unsure if the bones found were of an adult or child.

“She contacted the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office as well as investigators, we do have sheriff’s deputies and investigators on scene at this time,” said Sgt. Sims.

Investigators are gathering additional evidence with the University of Florida Pound lLab and the 8th District Medical Examiners Office.

“From there we got to allow them to take time to view the bones, and do their process and from that point hopefully they will let us know whether or not this is going to be an active crime scene or not,” saidsaid Sgt. Sims.

Deputies say this is being classified as a death investigation until additional leads can be developed.
There was a similar case years ago in Miami that I recall hearing on the news at the time. This led to me being present the two times I've had a septic tank pumped out to see the bottom as it emptied. Fortunately neither time was anything found we weren't expecting!

I suspect this sort of thing may not be as uncommon as one might think.

Maybe my septic tank wasn't the right kind, but I couldn't see any way to get a body IN there. There was only a small access hole, maybe 6 inches across. You'd have to do some major dismemberment to get any kind of body in there.
